Q- I want to start a very young child using Catch Clean™, what is the smallest glove it will fit?

A- The body of Catch Clean™ is designed to span across the back of a glove 8 inches or more between the inside of the thumb and the inside of the smallest finger, small “plastic” gloves are about the only ones that it won't fit.

Q- How can catchers benefit from Catch Clean™?

A- When the catcher isn't catching pitches Catch Clean™ can help develop some great habits, dead ball pick ups and footwork specifically, see other questions about other positions.

Q- It makes a lot of sense for infielders to use this but my son plays outfield, how can he benefit?

A- Recruited outfielders often fall in to one of two situations, a great bat that you want in the line up (usually right field) or a good infielder who is super fast (left and/or center). Developing proper fielding technique is just as important in the outfield, especially anticipating where to throw a fielded ball and positioning for a catch with a fast release. Have outfielders position themselves to catch fly balls in a throwing position, release times become difficult to monitor because there will be no time between catch and throw.

Q- First basemen often need to stretch to a ball to make an out, why should they use Catch Clean™?

A- Operative word there is “often”, many first base players make the mistake of making the commitment of stretching before the infielder has thrown the ball to them. Catch Clean™ completely breaks that habit. Not every throw to first needs to be stretched at and sometimes the first baseman needs to step off the bag to block a ball then come back, there is no better method of training the first baseman the fundamental techniques to decide when to step off, when to stretch and when to commit than Catch Clean™.

Q- My son stretched out the tabbed bands, can they be shortened?

A- The bands we use with Catch Clean™ aren't the same recipe as conventional rubber bands, because of the expected exposure to sunlight they are engineered to be much more resistant to the effects of UV rays, the short answer is no, but you can tie a knot in it to shorten it or weave the band through 2 other holes while waiting to get replacement parts. Replacement parts come with 16 additional bands and 32 inches of Velcro strap.

Q- What drills does the manufacturer recommend?

A- Tennis ball and a wall, the entire team can effectively develop footwork and two handed catching for lightning fast releases, coaches are amazed at the dramatic changes this simple workout can effect.

Coaches and players! Always remember the purpose of Catch Clean™ is to train users to field correctly. Catch Clean is not a challenge to see if you can close the glove while it is attached. Should you over stretch Catch Clean, warming the "spine" of Catch Clean™ will restore it to its original shape.
